Collection: The Artist
Samantha Niland is a woodburning artist born and raised near the scenic Seacoast of New Hampshire. Her deep roots with, and lifelong love for the arts has led her through a creative journey across many mediums, but it wasn’t until a spontaneous gift—a wood burner from her father—that she discovered the medium that felt most natural to her. What started as a casual attempt at burning a mountain landscape onto scrap wood quickly turned into a deep passion and personal calling.
Though Samantha first pursued a career in cosmetology, she soon realized her creativity needed a different outlet. She found a unique rhythm balancing bartending at her family’s business, The Chop Shop Pub, and creating art at home and even during quiet moments at work. Her woodburning quickly gained attention from regulars, who began bringing her various pieces of wood—each with its own story and potential. From coasters to wall hangings to keepsake boxes, she transformed them all with the heat of her hand and the spark of imagination.
What began as a personal art form soon became a community movement. Encouraged by the enthusiasm of her supporters, Samantha launched woodburning workshops right in the place where it all began—The Chop Shop. The classes were a hit, selling out in under 48 hours, and created a space where others could tap into their own creativity. After a short break to plan her wedding and focus on family, she’s now back, more inspired than ever, ready to expand her artistic journey and explore the full extent of her creative potential.
Samantha’s art is rooted in authenticity, fueled by community, and driven by a passion to bring natural beauty to life through wood. As she moves into this new chapter, she hopes to continue connecting with others through her workshops and creations, while flourishing as both an artist and a storyteller.
